• Leaving Assam’s plains, the road gradually climbs into the Khasi Hills of Meghalaya. The temperature cools, pine forests emerge, and clouds often drift across the highway.
• Pause at Umiam Lake, a massive reservoir created for hydroelectric power. Surrounded by forested hills, it marks the dramatic transition from plains to highlands.
• By evening, reach Shillong, Meghalaya’s charming capital, known for its music culture, colonial architecture, and relaxed hill-town lifestyle.

• Explore Mawsmai Cave, a limestone cave system revealing stalactites, stalagmites, and underground passages shaped over millennia.
